The outstanding world-renowned athlete Georges St-Pierre has inspired more than one genera-tion. He is the pride of Saint-Isidore, his Montérégie, Quebec hometown. So much so that in the spring of 2017, it was decided that a sculpture would be designed, a public space, created at the heart of the town he grew up in to commemorate his exploits.

The life-size bronze sculpture stands barefoot at the heart of a symbolic octagonal arena. Its position reflects the athlete’s accessibility and simplicity and allows the audience to stage them-selves with the exceptional champion. On the octagon floor, where the athlete has shown as much agility as strength, are engraved the eight core values he lives by. As per the circular arc walk on which are disposed eleven Chinese stone steps, it draws inspiration from the oriental philosophy revered by the fighter.

Place GSP is a tribute to the extraordinary performances of the greatest mixed martial arts ath-lete of all time as well as the deeply inspiring human values of Georges St-Pierre.
