SCULPTOR-DESIGNER, TALI LEVESQUE

Born in Montreal, Tali Levesque is known for her conceptual approaches. Her creativity is fundamentally driven by impromptu or organized encounters, past or present, here or there. Focused on emotion and essential to her process, these encounters fuel her inspiration and imagination and become, in turn, an integral part of her artistic approach. An inexhaustible source of stories and testimonies, people of all ages who cross her path echo the passage of time through her body of work.

Through these intimate encounters, as stories are shared and unfold, a strong image emerges and becomes the anchor point and focal subject of her body of work. Tali Levesque sails both in the reduced format and in the large dimension pieces. As per choices in surface treatment, they are made to reflect the subject exploited.

A paradox in many ways, her work suggests both softness and hardness. Of contemporary sig-nature, it blends figurative and abstract elements and translates the universe of others while considering the seamless integration to the space invested.

FINAL ADJUSTMENTS

DECEMBER 2019

FINAL TOUCH-UPS BEFORE STARTING THE WORK AT L’ATELIER DU BRONZE FOUNDRY

As soon as the sculpture arrives at the foundry, touch-ups are made for 2 days straight. Once the silicone is applied, the only possible touch-ups will be on wax prints.

MOULD CREATION

Silicone application to the sculpture as soon as the final touch-ups are completed at the L’Atelier du Bronze foundry. Plaster application follows to create different moulds, serving to cut the statue into pieces and make a wax print in each mould.

WAX PRINTS

From this moulding, another moulding on wax is made. They are then heated and emptied of their wax. The moment for bronze casting to begin has arrived. Bronze fills the empty moulds, replacing the melted wax.

BRONZE PRINT ASSEMBLAGE

The different parts of the bronze sculpture are put together and assembled.

SANDBLASTING

Sandblasting cleans out the welds and smoothes the surface.

PATINA

An artificial varnish/colouring is applied to protect the bronze sculpture.
